Shielding K-style Gutters

K-style gutters are in a class all their own. Also known as ogee gutters, they are mostly known for the troughs being shaped like the upper half of the letter K when seen from the side. They are also fashioned to specific dimensions with the aim of carrying as much water as possible for channeling away to the downspout.

However, K-styles are just as vulnerable to the common problems of gutters as any gutter system. Sagging troughs, blockage due to debris buildup, and overflowing water runoff are among the most common problems. They are more resistant to impact damage than rounded gutters regardless of their material construction. Another advantage is the design of K-style gutters is adaptable for many gutter protection products.
Your preferred contractor may help in the selection of the gutter defenses by measuring the dimensions of the K gutters. Many K gutters in use are normally five or six inches wide, but it is not uncommon for K-style gutters to have larger, custom widths. Their backsides, or the height, may range from 3 1/8 inches to 7 ¼ inches. A gutter protection system can use the curved design to leave a long slit for the water to pass through.

This is a good product very easy to install. I choose this because my shingle hang over the edge into the gutter slightly so the sponge fit perfectly as you can see in my pictures. I installed these 3 weeks ago and the leaves/pine straw are falling steady now. It has rained several times since installation. I have re-inspected and found no problems at all. When it rains really, really, and I'm talking monsoon action some water will briefly flow over the front edge of the gutter as it is designed to due if it fills up. I do not see this as a problem because in an average to heavy rain they drain perfectly. I would highly recommend this product.
