Two Problems Gutter Guards Prevent
Your gutters work to
prevent rain and snow from entering and damaging your home. Because
of this, it is important to make sure that your gutters are in great
condition. Roofing and gutter experts advise homeowners to clean out
the gutters at least twice a year, although those living near
numerous trees should clean theirs at least every quarter. However,
cleaning out the gutters can hardly be seen as a homeowner’s
favorite chore.
For people that do not
have the time (or the will) to regularly clean the gutters,
purchasing gutters caps or guards is a solid investment. Not only do
these additions keep your gutters clean, they also prevent the
following gutter problems from happening:
Flooded Gardens
When debris like leaves
and twigs start to accumulate in your gutters, it can easily block
the path of water to the downspout. When this happens, water can
spill over the sides of your gutters and flood out any flowers or
landscaping positioned underneath your gutters.
Ice Dams
The same blockage can
be especially dangerous during the winter season as gutter blockage
usually results in ice dams. Ice dams are a plague for homeowners as
it blocks water from reaching the gutters and redirects the water
into the home.
