Gutter Cover Protection against Weather Elements
The
protection that a reliable gutter cover provides is not limited to
maintaining the gutters themselves, but also to the rest of the
structures in the house.
A gutter cover can protect your house in
these ways:
FIRE
The
accumulation of leaves, twigs and other dry debris can be a fire
hazard. Additionally, the litter clogs may become heavy enough to
cause the gutter and surrounding structures (roof, siding, etc.) to
break. When the leaves combust from lighted embers, the fire may
easily spread
WATER
Water,
as the main element carried by gutters, poses numerous threats to
safety and house structure integrity. Peeling paint, molds and
structural damages are among the most common. Basement flooding can
also occur the gutter's downspout and drainage are clogged or
improperly installed.
EARTH
Earth
corrosion may occur from water pooling. Water pooling in the house
foundation leads to soil erosion and consequent weakness of the
foundation. The earth's product, wood, is also prone to water
destruction. The abundance of moisture can cause rotting and termite
invasion.
AIR
When
the siding and other surfaces or structures of the house are damaged
by water, the ventilation system of the house may offer less
efficiency in regulating temperatures and air entry and quality.
Respiratory health can be compromised because of bacteria from molds
that can travel through ventilation.
